Thank you for the education. I have a nice palm hat but one side got a bit tweeked out of shape. I played with it many time but couldn't get it back in shape. I thought I would try water but decided to google this issue because you can find so much information now on the internet. I have a portable steamer and followed your tips, so far looking great again.

This may turn out useful while I live in my country of service, where the electricity is unstable. The way clothes are laundered by hand here is admittedly very laborious. Could save me a lot of time, could be an idea to share with others 😁

I was taught to throw a bight to pull through the diamonds once you throw a twist not thread it, all the old packer and guides I saw did the same. A small thing, but we lose all our traditions and we have nothing. Harder to learn but waay faster it adds up when you’re packin up 21 horses before daylight and dont want them standing around while you throw 21 doubles by threading it around and you get it tighter the first time, if you throw it alot you can get it tight an quick. It’s a good hitch if your string is free traveling and you kinda want to net your load down snug, cargo style! Watch for rubs with this hitch.

What a waste of time and money! All you need is 2 large buckets; one full of soapy water and one for rinsing, then squeeze out as much water as you can and hang the clothes up to dry. This video looks like a lot of work.

TY for your tip. An idea to take this even further and make it even more efficient is to make this a bucket only washer. By making 2 buckets having sieve bottoms ( bore lots of Holes) put the laundry in on and put the other on top. Now put those 2 in a 3rd bucket with the detergent & water . Pump with the upper bucket to agitate the wash. Pump 10 times wait 5 mins , pump 10 more & fill a ,4th bucket. Move the sieve buckets to this one and pump 10 times ansöd lift out to wring/centrifuge

Have made something similar, though without holes in the plunger. The plunger is more effective and last longer without. NB: Using a long stick like a broomstick is perfect, feels a natural working position like they churned butter in old days
